Equip Bucky as soon as you land it, because it out-damages everything in the prismatic band, including Ninja and Stormy on raw stats. The honest framing is that Bucky is the threshold pull: any account that owns Bucky has crossed into a different game, where slimes are measured in millions-to-one rather than thousands. Until that transition lands, transcendent slimes are aspirational rather than active.

Treat reaching Bucky as a milestone in its own right, since the slimes beyond it demand multipliers most accounts take a long time to build. By the time Pokey, SlimeSlime or Unicorn comes within reach, Bucky has earned its slot many times over. After Pokey lands and finally unlocks the Huge Pokey hunt, Bucky moves over to share the active loadout rather than getting benched.
